We know the pain, tingling, or weakness you’ve been feeling can be frustrating and may even interfere with your daily life. One option to help relieve that pressure is a procedure called a minimally invasive foraminotomy.
Here’s what that means:
Between each bone in your spine, there are small openings called foramina where your nerves exit. Sometimes those openings become too narrow in a condition called foraminal stenosis. When this happens, the nerve gets squeezed, which causes the pain, numbness, or tingling you’ve been feeling.
During the procedure:
· We make a very small incision and use special instruments to carefully reach the narrowed area.
· With imaging guidance, we gently free the nerve by removing or trimming whatever is causing the blockage, a piece of bone, disc material, or thickened tissue.
· The goal is to give your nerve more space so it can function normally without being pinched.
Because this is minimally invasive, the surgery is easier on your body than traditional open procedures. That means:
· Smaller incision and less muscle disruption
· Less pain afterward
· Minimal blood loss
· Faster recovery and lower risk of complications
Most patients notice real relief of their symptoms soon after surgery, and many can return to their normal activities within a few weeks. Sometimes physical therapy is recommended to rebuild strength and mobility, but recovery is usually much smoother compared to open surgery.
Our focus is to help you get lasting relief from the nerve pain so you can move, walk, and live with greater comfort again.
